The Markets in Florence

After almost two weeks in Florence, we have all had our share of experiences when it comes to buying food. I find it so interesting when I think about how different local “grocery stores” are from the fresh markets. Each time I am in the stores, I feel like I am in a Wal-Mart that has been drastically reduced in size. Everyone hustles around in an effort to get in and out as quickly as possible, and no one in their path is safe from the occasional push or shove.

However, when I go to the markets, either the main market or the neighborhood market, I feel like I am one with the locals. Everyone looks determined yet relaxed, and the atmosphere resembles the pleasant, enjoyable side of Italy.
