Our Work is Our Play!

My Experience with Light Painting

Schreiner University in Florence

By: Sarah Carlyle

One of our assignments for Intro to Digital Photography was to practice with light painting. We decided to take a little trip to the carousel one night, and we all had a great time practicing this technique. Our first pictures looked like this one: controlled and focused on the motion of the carousel’s lights. However, by the end of the night, some of us found it more interesting to focus on moving our cameras in different ways to create wild, squiggly patterns of light. I’m sure we looked quite strange to the rest of the world that night because we were waving our cameras around and running between classmates to show off our latest creation. Overall, it was a wonderful learning experience, but the fun we had was even better!
