Ill-literacy: Fushigi Yuugi

This weeks topic is Historical Fiction!

Fushigi Yuugi is a story about a girl being sucked into a storybook and going back to an Era of feudal Japan.

I would give this manga a 6/10. It isn’t the best manga I have ever read but it is worth a read if you are interested in the fairy tale type feel or you just like a good romance. So in case you want to know a little bit more about the story, two girls are visiting the library because they need to study but in the back part of the library a book calls out to our main character and she starts to read it but in the process ends up inside the book. The age in the book is more hostel than the modern era to she is used to and she has to find help to get away from bandits and other scary people. But a prophecy foretold of her arrival and she she then is taken in by the palace.

When it comes down to it being historical, I believe it is only classified like that because of the era she leaps into. The story isn’t truly based on an historical event. But hey that’s why they call it historical fiction.
