Our Work is Our Play!
This past week Schreiner Men’s Soccer competed against Howard Payne University, whom defeated us last year 4-3. The game started off slow with neither team scoring in the first half. As the second half began Justin Edwards gave Schreiner their first goal, while Scott Teitelman had three saved goals. Ryan Hernandez had an impressive drive past several Howard Payne defenders before passing to Manny Losoya for the insurance goal. Men’s soccer will resume Saturday September sixth in Marshall, Texas at East Texas Baptist. The game begins at 4pm following the women’s soccer game.
The women’s soccer team took on Howard Payne University Friday for their season opener. 17 minutes into the game HPU scored having the score be 0-1 at half time. However, Schreiner finished strong having the game ending with the score 2-1.Freshman Allyson Fowler scored the first goal for Schreiner. She placed the ball perfectly in the upper right corner of the goal just above the goalie’s hands. Kelcie Nesbitt came in and scored the winning goal for Schreiner. Beth Davis took a shot that hit the crossbar and bouncing down. HPU could not clear it in time and Kelcie Nesbitt came through with power to allow the ball to go fully into the net. This was a big win for Schreiner since they lost 4-1 last year to HPU. The next game will be against Dallas in Dallas Saturday.
