Our Work is Our Play!
Tuesday, the Schreiner Volleyball played a non-conferance match against Our Lady of the Lake. Unfortunately, they lost all three matches. The Mountaineers fought hard with outstanding performance from, junior Alyssa Chapman who had nine kills and a .261 attack percentage. Also by, Freshman Lauren McQueen had 10 digs and senior Kelli Bolen aided the cause with 13 assists. The mountaineers continued to improve each game by shortening the total of points they lost by and had an 8 point come back in the last game. The head Volleyball coach, Coach Wallace, decided to have a Hawaiian night so fans came to the match dressed in hula skirts and leis. In between, the second and third game Coach Wallace hosted a hula dancing contest. 6 contestants battled it out with only one winner, Reagan Reed. This energy carried over to the Volleyball girls in their last match of the evening by only falling short of a few points by the end of the match. The Men’s Soccer team will play this Friday at Schreiner’s home field at 4 and the Women’s soccer team this Sunday at the home field at 2.
This past Friday Schreiner Men’s Soccer Team hosted Texas Lutheran University (TLU.) For the first conference game of the season the SU Mountaineers fell short in the first half by letting a goal slip by in the tenth minute of the game. Isaac Lopez scored the insurance goal for TLU after being awarded a penalty kick due to a Mountaineer handball in the 61st minute. The next game was scheduled for September 13th but has been postponed due to inclement weather.
