Gnosco: Fantasy

This week, I’d like to talk about one of my favorite books, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. It’s a fun read for a number of reasons – one of them being that I love its descriptive nature. I read this, tragically, after the LoTR series, so perhaps its effect was dulled on me, but it still felt magical it a sense, better than its three-part follow-up.

An engaging read, it tells a charming little story about a reluctant traveler coming out of his comfort zone (in quite the extreme way). Surprise meetings, new friends and old acquaintances, and even a dragon – it’s got just what you would want in a fantasy adventure! It’s not a hard read, because it’s fun, and that makes it flow. Especially because it was intended as a children’s story, it is not too complex a read. Highly recommended!
