Our Work is Our Play!
We start to wrap up the fall season and head into what I guess is called winter season. The volleyball team played their last games while both soccer teams move on to the quarterfinals of the SCAC Championships. This is the first time that the women’s soccer has ever advanced to the postseason tournament. The soccer teams had their dead week this week and will play this Friday. Volleyball however did not advance into their post season tournament. Their season is now over. They did host a tournament next week where they played University of Southwest Friday. They won the match to add to the fourth match won this season. They won 3 sets and lost one in order to win an overall game. The final scores of the set were 25-15, 25-18, 18-25 and 25-15. Schreiner was on fire friday night by setting new records. Alyssa Chapman had a season-high of 18 kills. She aslos led in digs with 11 and an attack percentage of .333. Lauren Mcqueen had 16 kills and seven digs. This lead to Schreiner playing its most consistent game of the season.
This year on Halloween night our men’s soccer team went to face TLU in Seguin, Texas. For the last regular season game our Mountaineers wanted to take home the win just as bad as TLU. The match was even until the 60th minute when one of TLU’s men headed the ball in after a corner kick. Both teams were pretty even when it comes to stats, with TLU only having one more shot than SU who had 12. With this loss our Mountaineers will head into the postseason in 6th place.
